Background:

On May 19, 2016 Alachua County Ordinance No. 16-06 was filed with the Florida Department of State. Section 4(b) authorizes the County to extend the Alachua County Forever program to acquire and improve environmentally sensitive lands. Section 5(b) allows for use of the surtax proceeds to acquire and improve environmentally sensitive lands.

On July 11, 2019, Alachua County purchased the Wolfsheimer addition to Barr Hammock preserve.  For security and liability reasons, it is necessary to construct a fence along portions of the Wolfsheimer property boundary.  This budget amendment will allow this work to proceed. POR 2019-1842 is in process for this project.
