Background:

The Environmental Protection Advisory Committee (EPAC) was created by the Board of County Commissioners in 1984. The eleven member (plus one alternate) Environmental Protection Advisory Committee provides recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on environmental policy and related issues.  The Committee members serve for three-year terms.  The Sunset Date for the Committee has been extended 4 times since the initial Resolution, for periods ranging from a year and half to seven years.  The most recent extension by Resolution 17-07 extended the Sunset Date from June 30, 2018 to December 31, 2019.

On July 2, 2019 the Environmental Protection Advisory Committee voted unanimously to recommend that the Board of County Commissioners extend the Sunset Date for six years to December 31, 2025, because of the continued concern for environmental issues on the Committee’s Workplan that need continued action.
