Background:

Beginning with FY2007/08 the BoCC made the decision to fund Meridian Behavioral Healthcare on an annual basis, outside of requiring an application or competitive process. The funds are used for the provision of adult and child acute care and inpatient services, residential treatment, outpatient services and outreach and prevention services in the areas of mental health and substance abuse treatment. Beginning in 2017-18, an additional $100,000.00 of funding was provided for Senate Bill 12 related support to eliminate/reduce the waiting time for Alachua County residents for detoxification and residential treatment beds.  Funds provided under this agreement, in part help Meridian meet the State of Florida requirements for local match.
