Background:

On November 8, 2016, Alachua County voters approved Wild Spaces and Public Places, a one-half cent sales tax to be collected in the county from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2024. The funds are collected to acquire and improve environmentally sensitive lands; and create, improve, and maintain parks and recreation facilities.

The Board has allocated 10% of the County's portion of Wild Spaces and Public Places revenues for recreational improvement projects. A prioritized list of parks was established for each quadrant of the County and potential park improvements were identified. Staff presented the Schematic Plan to ROSCO on June 18, 2019 and held a public open house to present the plan and solicit citizen input on July 16, 2019.
