Background:

The Alachua County Environmental Protection Department has operated the permanent Hazardous Waste Collection Center since 1999 where Alachua County residents can properly dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) six days per week. Additionally, qualified business waste is currently accepted as well. In addition, the five (5) County Solid Waste Collection Centers have a HHW collection area, and the program also holds numerous mobile HHW collection events throughout the County annually. To insure the protection of the public's health, safety and welfare and for the protection of the environment, the County requires E-Scrap (consumer electronics) collected though the hazardous waste program be collected and properly recycled. On September 11, 2018, the BoCC approved awarding this contract to A1 Assets, Inc. for Fiscal Year 2019.  The approved agreement includes a provision for the renewal of the agreement for two (2) additional one (1) year periods at the same terms and conditions of the original contract.
