Description:
Alachua County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 75.601 requires a franchise agreement be approved by the County in order to engage in the business of providing commercial collection services. Due to the expected revenues from the Commercial Services Franchise Agreement between Alachua County and Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. being greater than $50,000, the Application and Agreement are required to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners.

The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners approves the Commercial Services Franchise Agreement(s) with Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. on an annual basis. On April 29, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Commercial Services Franchise Agreement between Alachua County and Waste Pro of Florida, Inc., with a term ending on September 30, 2019.

Background:
The Alachua County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 75.601 states "It shall be unlawful to commence or engage in the business of providing commercial collection service or providing containers for commercial service to properties in the unincorporated area of the County without obtaining a franchise issued by the County."
