Recommended Action:
Recommended Action
Approve the issuance of Purchase Order 2020-992, to Zoll Medical Corporation, in the amount of $419,992.30, for the purchase of 15 X Series Manual Monitor/Defibrillators and Accessories. Prices per Volusia County RFP 6-P-64AK.

This purchase is exempt from the County's competitive bidding requirements pursuant to Section 22.11(15) of the Alachua County Purchasing Code, which permits the County to purchase supplies, materials, equipment and services under the terms and conditions established under an existing contract that the vendor has with federal, state, municipal government or any other governmental agency. However, since the dollar amount of the purchase exceeds the purchasing authority of the Purchasing Manager, this Purchase Order is being submitted for Board consideration and approval.

Prior Board Motions:
On September 24, 2019, the Board Adopted the FY20 Budget which included funding for the replacement of the cardiac monitors on the fire units and capital purchases related to the additional rescue unit.

The FY20 budget includes funding to replace the cardiac monitors on the fire units of $413,589 and an additional unit for the new rescue unit $35,000.00. All funds are budgeted in the General Fund in 001.54.5450.526.64.00.

Background:
Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) utilizes Zoll E-series monitors on its front-line ALS units. Manufacturer life expectancy for the Zoll E-series monitors is 8-years and ACFR units have reached that benchmark. Zoll no longer manufactures the E-series and will no longer provide software updates.
