Description:
On October 30, 2019, the Alachua County Charter Review Commission reviewed proposals and heard presentations from multiple law firms which responded to a request for proposals to provide legal services to the Commission. Upon review, the Charter Review Commission voted to approve the proposal from Vose Law Firm LLP, attached. Therefore, the County Attorney wishes to retain Wade Vose to provide legal counsel for the Charter Review Commission. Consistent with the submitted proposal, the contract with Wade Vose, Vose Law Firm LLP (<http://www.voselaw.com/attorneys/wade-c-vose.html>), will authorize Gretchen “Becky” Vose (<http://www.voselaw.com/attorneys/gretchen-r-h-qbeckyq-vose.html>) and Nancy Stuparish (<http://www.voselaw.com/attorneys/nancy-ann-stuparich.html>), also with Vose Law Firm LLP, to provide legal services to the Charter Review Commission. For work under this contract, the attorneys will be paid at a rate of $150/hour and paralegals will be paid $75.00. The firm will provide the following legal services:
1) Provide legal advice to the CRC on issues relating to the 2019-2020 Charter Review process;
2) Work with CRC facilitator and staff, as well as legislators, County staff, municipal staff, citizens, and other interested persons on issues and matters before the CRC;
3) Attend meetings of the CRC;
4) Perform research and prepare legal memoranda, resolutions, ballot provisions and other appropriate legal documents; and
5) Provide any other legal services related to the duties and responsibilities of the CRC.
Pursuant to Section 31.42, Alachua County Code (Special Attorneys), the Board of County Commissioners must appoint special attorneys.
