Background:

Alachua County is a member of the Education Compact.  One of the goals of the group is to fund a $120,000 feasibility study for a local National Center for Arts & Technology, which would provide technical/vocational training for Alachua County citizens.  While Alachua County provides stellar basic and college level education, our community’s recent Equity Study revealed a gap for technical/vocational training.  The City of Gainesville has committed to providing $30,000 towards the study, and Alachua County has been asked to do the same.  The remaining funds are expected to be raised from the smaller municipalities, the school board and private contributions.
