The FY20 EMS County Grant is $32,501.00 and the distribution deadline to return the application is December 16, 2019. When the grant is awarded a budget amendment addressing the revenue and expenditures will be brought before the Board. (014-54-5450-526- various.)

Background:
The Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is authorized by Chapter 401, Part II, F.S., to dispense grant funds. Forty-five (45) percent of these funds are made available to the 67 boards of county commissioners (BoCCs) to improve and expand pre-hospital EMS systems in their county. Each County is required to submit a Grant Application and request for grant fund distribution. The Alachua County grant award amount is $32,501.00.

Chapter 401 of the Florida Statutes authorizes the Florida Department of Health to award funds to eligible Florida counties for the enhancement of Emergency Medical Services. These funds are collected from surcharges on moving violations issued within the county and awarded to each eligible County for the purpose of improving and/or expanding their pre-hospital Emergency Medical Services. This is an annual process which requires no matching funds. The State has notified Alachua County that the FY20 EMS County Grant is $32,501.00.
