Background:

Alachua County is a recipient of State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds pursuant to Florida Statute 470.907, which provides for the implementation of projects designed to address the affordable housing needs of very low, low and moderate-income households.

This Agreement will provide Alachua Habitat for Humanity, Inc. with SHIP funds on a reimbursement basis to make critical home repairs to 6-10 eligible, owner-occupied, very low and low-income households within Alachua County and outside of Gainesville city limits.  This agreement is set to expire June 30, 2020.

Alachua Habitat for Humanity, Inc. is an independent, non-profit, organization led by a local board of directors that coordinate all aspects of their work, including fundraising and program oversight.  Alachua Habitat for Humanity's Critical Home Repair program addresses unsafe and severely inadequate living conditions. The Critical Home Repair program supports the economic and cultural vibrancy of the community and preserves local affordable housing stock.

A Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) was advertised on March 27, 2019, for the Alachua County Department of Community Support Services State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program, State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2017-2018/2018-2019 Funding Cycles. According to construction schedules, this project could be paid from multiple funds.
