Description:

The intent of this Ordinance is to promote, protect and improve the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Alachua County by requiring certain event promoters to obtain Fire/EMS coverage for special events.

Adopt the the proposed Special Event Ordinance and authorize the Chair to sign.

Background:

Large gatherings of people have the potential of catastrophic danger of a major fire, medical emergency or both, endangering the health, safety, and welfare of citizens. Hazards and risks are presented which require crowd control and planning to minimize disruption to the flow of traffic caused by travel to and from the gathering. It is in the best interests of Alachua County to understand and prepare for the known collateral and secondary effects that large gatherings events present.
