Background:

A commissioner has requested that this item be placed on your agenda.  If adopted, the County’s resolution would mirror City of Gainesville Resolution 180153 re. Community Identification Card Program (adopted on 08/15/2019).  The Resolution would express the Board’s position that identification cards are necessary in today’s society, and state-issued identification cards are often challenging for residents of our community to obtain.  The Resolution also direct County services to accept a particular type of community identification card, unless federal, state or local law require a state-issued identification card.  Further, the Resolution urges businesses, civic groups, other government agencies, community institutions, and residents to recognize community identification cards.
