Description:

Per the approved Interlocal Agreement the Alachua County Commission is to have 3 members of the council appointed by the Chair, one of which must be the Chair, who will serve as the Chief Elected Official under WIOA.

Background:

On April 14, 2020, the Board approved a new Interlocal Agreement with Bradford County regarding CareerSource North Central Florida. The Bradford County Board of County Commissioners approved the new Interlocal Agreement on April 16, 2020. The new Interlocal Agreement creates an oversight Council named the Dual County Workforce Development Council ("Council”), through which the parties to the Interlocal Agreement collectively carrying out their responsibilities under WIOA. The Council is to consist of four members, consisting of: the Chair of the Bradford County Board of County Commissioners, the Chair of the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, and two addition Alachua County Commissioners to be appointed by the Chair of the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners. Pursuant to the new Interlocal Agreement, the Chair of the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners has the authority and is required to appoint two other members of the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners to the newly created Council.
