Background:
There are (2) existing White Conveyor Inc, property storage conveyors at the County Jail that due to age, usage and constant need for repair and maintenance need to be replaced or refurbished. As part of the FY20 budget process, $90,000 was allocated for the replacement of the conveyors. After researching which was the best option either full replacement or refurbishment/upgrade, it was determined that the suspension, track sections and most of the bends could be reused. All moving parts and controls are to be replaced so they all be the same age and will be manufactured and built together for optimal performance. White Conveyor Inc. is the sole source for parts and service of the existing machines so in order to upgrade/refurbish at a cost savings they would need to be the awarded vendor for the purchase order.
This purchase is exempt from the County's competitive bidding requirements pursuant to Section 22.3-302 (28) Sole Source procurements in accordance with the Procurement Code.
