Description:

Emergency funding allocation from the Department of Justice to assist law enforcement and first responders local governments with preventing, preparing for and responding to the coronavirus pandemic

Authorize the Sheriff to apply for and submit the application for Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental funding as the authorized agent.

Background:

The Department of Justice has released the CESF funding under the CARES Act that included $850 million for law enforcement and first responders. The funding is a direct allocation and is based on the most recent Direct Byrne/JAG funding. The Sheriff’s Office is applying for funding for personal protective equipment.
