Background:

The Alachua County Community Remembrance Project (“Requester”) has requested permission to collect two - one gallon glass jar soil samples from the County owned property on the SE corner of University Avenue and SW 2nd Street, as part of Alachua County’s Truth & Reconciliation project.  The soil collected will be included as part of the collection of soils from the sites of known lynchings around Alachua County.  The Requester will coordinate the date and time of the soil collection with Gina Peebles, Chief of Staff, who will ensure that appropriate County staff are on-site at the time of soil collection for the purpose of observing and verifying that the Requester fills any holes that are created by the soil collection with clean fill material.
