Background:
The Alachua County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 75.601 states "It shall be unlawful to commence or engage in the business of providing commercial collection service or providing containers for commercial service to properties in the unincorporated area of the County without obtaining a franchise issued by the County". Therefore, to maintain their compliancy with the Alachua County Code of Ordinances, WCA of Florida, LLC is required to submit an annual Commercial Services Franchise Application, for as long as they wish to continue being allowed to provide commercial solid waste services within Alachua County. Along with the Application, they must also sign a Commercial Services Franchise Agreement with the County and receive approval by the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners.
Since the Commercial Services Franchise Agreement with WCA of Florida, LLC is expected to bring over $50,000 in revenue, this Agreement is required to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners.
