Background:

The Alachua County Environmental Protection Department has operated the permanent Hazardous Waste Collection Center (HWCC) since 1999. The HWCC accepts Households Hazardous Waste (HHW) from County residents and commercial hazardous waste from qualified small business. Additionally, the HWCC manages waste collected from the five (5) County Solid Waste Rural Collection Centers and from numerous mobile HHW collection events.

To insure the protection of the public's health, safety and welfare and for the protection of the environment, the County requires E-Scrap (consumer electronics) collected though the hazardous waste program to be properly managed by a qualified vendor. Powerhouse Recycling Inc. meets all the applicable qualifications.

BID 20-81 Rebid Annual E-Scrap Disposal advertised on April 8, 2020 and April 15, 2020. The deadline for receipt of BID 20-81 Rebid Annual E-Scrap Disposal was May 20, 2020; four (4) vendors responded. Powerhouse Recycling Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder meeting specifications.
