Background:

The Alachua County Healthcare Advisory Board was originally established by Alachua County Ordinance on October 18, 1988. The full board complement is 19 members plus one alternate. Eight of the positions are reserved for nomination by specific agencies and 11 are designated for applicants with specific expertise.

Dr. Grant Harrell has been nominated by the University of Florida Department of Community Health and Family Medicine.  Candice King has previously served on the Healthcare Advisory Board and is the sole applicant for Community Advocacy Group Representative.  She initially applied to serve as the Healthcare Professional Representative but has since indicated she wishes to serve as a Community Advocacy Group Representative as she is a member of the Safety Net Collaborative. When completing her application she inadvertently indicated that she is not a resident of Alachua County but has since supplied verification of Alachua County residency.  Brendan Shortley currently serves as the Healthcare Professional Representative and his term ends December 31, 2020. He also serves as the Board Chair and has applied for reappointment for the term ending December 31, 2022.
