The 911 Office budget contains a line item to pay the annual maintenance in case the grant is not approved (126.54.5471.529.41.00). The request for $80,000 in grant funds is 66% of the annual cost for the 911 telephone system maintenance.  The grant award will alleviate E911 funds to be reallocated to the Next Generation project.  The State has reviewed this proposal and the grant request complies will all requirements.

Background:

The E911 Board makes grants available to Florida Counties throughout the year. E911 Staff participates in the monthly E911 Board meetings and have engaged the E911 Board to make 911 telephone system maintenance an allowable priority within the state grant program. During the recent E911 Board meetings in December and January, the E911 Board did not add the 911 telephone system maintenance to the priority list, however, they did engage all counties to determine the cost each county pays for 911 telephone system maintenance. With the costs known, the E911 Board will then be able to determine if there is adequate funding to support the grant request.

If successful, the grant funds would free up existing E911 funds that will be allocated to the Next Generation upgrade to the Combined Communication Center’s equipment.  The E911 Board has reviewed this grant proposal and funding request and verified that it complies with all state funding and grant requirements.
