Recommended Action:

Recommended Action

Approve the Reopening of Poe Springs Park (including the Lodge) to seven day-per-week operations beginning May 28 (Memorial Day weekend).

Prior Board Motions:

Jun. 9, 2020 - direct staff to open Poe Springs Park at 50% capacity on the weekends. Open up active recreation parks with the usage of signage to educate citizens on social distancing, cleaning of hands, and not touching your eyes, nose, and mouth by Friday, June 12, 2020 (3:2).

There is sufficient budget to support full-time staffing and operations of Poe Springs Park.

Background:

Poe Springs Park has been open to the public Fridays - Sundays at 50% capacity since June 13, 2020 due to the implementation of COVID19 protocols. Staff is requesting approval to reopen Poe Springs to seven day-per-week operations beginning Memorial Day weekend.

Park users will still be required to adhere to current Alachua County Emergency Orders.
