Background:

The five (5) County 911 Coordinator positions on the State of Florida E911 Board’s focus is on what is best for Florida Counties as it relates to 911 public safety matters. Very important budget and policy matters are discussed every month at the E911 Board meetings with very little input from County perspective because there are three (3) vacancies on the E911 Board that should be filled by County 911 Coordinators.

The County 911 Coordinator positions on the E911 Board are based on county population. County representation comes from a rural county, a medium county, a large county, and two positions are at-large (from any county).

Historically, the five (5) communications industry positions are immediately filled upon a vacancy.

All voting is by simple majority with the communications industry having four (4) members. Today, the E911 Board has two (2) County 911 Coordinators and four (4) communications industry members on the Board.
