Background:
Local Workforce Development Board 9 (LWDB 9) oversees career center operations, provided by CareerSource North Central Florida (CSNCFL), in Alachua and Bradford Counties and receives funding by State program year (July 1-June 30) through formula, discretionary and dedicated grant purposes. In mid-July, LWDB9 received funding for the Welfare Transition Program in the amount of $170,487 as a short-term funding source for July 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021 needs for this program. Additional funding for this program will be received commencing October 1st and ending June 30th, 2022.

The Welfare Transition Program is a Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)-funded block grant. This program enables welfare recipients to move from welfare to work by emphasizing self-sufficiency and personal responsibility. CSNCFL facilitates this by offering welfare transition services through case management to applicant, mandatory and transitional TANF recipients.
