Recommended Action:

Recommended Action

Approve Recommended Mini and Matching Grant Funding Awards as recommended by the Alachua County Arts Council and authorize the issuance of purchase orders.

Background:

The Board of County Commissioners created the following grant programs: “Mini Grants for Artists/Event, “Major Grants for Artists”, and “Matching Grants to Small Cities for Art Projects”.  Applications for the Grants were submitted to the Alachua County Arts Council. On September 13, 2021, the Advisory Committee met in a public meeting to discuss their independent scoring, resulting in the recommended funding levels (attached and below):

 

                     Mini Grants - $1,000 each - Johanna Weiss, Corey Cheval, Music GNV and Y-Not Theatre.

                     Matching Grant - $1,500 each - City of High Springs and City of Newberry
