Description:
Staff requests the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) approve the budget amendment of $3 million into the Wild Spaces Public Places (WSPP) General Operating & Due Diligence Project 6184160.
The budget in the General Operating & Due Diligence Project, allows staff to conduct pre-acquisition due diligence on potential conservation land acquisitions.

Transfer $3,000,000 from Wild Spaces Public Places General Operating into WSPP General Operating & Due Diligence. There are sufficient funds in the budget for Fund 021 and within the WSPP 90% Conservation Lands allocation for this transfer.

Background:
Periodically, a budget amendment is required to replenish the funds in the WSPP General Operating & Due Diligence project: 021.41.4160.537.31.00 - Project 6184160.
Having funds in Project 6184160 allows Conservation Lands staff to conduct the due diligence steps required to purchase conservation land. These due diligence steps generally include: title work, property appraisal, timber evaluation, environmental assessment, baseline documentation report, and boundary surveys.
The amount requested will provide sufficient funds for FY22 without the need for additional budget transfers. Any funds not required for due diligence in FY22 will remain in Fund 021 and the project for future due diligence expenses or the purchase of additional conservation lands in future years.
