Background:

On September 28, 2021 the Board adopted the Zero Waste Strategy Report and Implementation Plan.  The report includes a number of strategies designed to achieve the County’s Zero Waste goals. The purpose of this presentation is to update the Board on two of the recommended strategies: (1) Adoption of a Zero Waste Procurement Procedure and (2) Continued development of the Eco-Industrial Park.

The proposed Zero Waste Procurement Procedure, which is under consideration for adoption by the County Manager, is included for information purposes only and contains County procedures for three main areas: purchasing and use of plates, cups and silverware, bottle water and paper products.

The update on the Eco-Industrial Park includes a presentation on the proposed Request for Information (RFI) package for prospective businesses; the screening criteria to evaluate the RFIs; and the proposed new name and logo for the Eco-Industrial Park.
