Background:
The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners has discussed a one-percent sales surtax referendum to fund a variety of programs, including but not limited to Wild Spaces Public Places, Road Repair, Fire Stations and other Public Facilities, Affordable Housing and Economic Development with all nine (9) cities over the past year, and contracted the Trust for Public Lands to conduct research and analyze a range of funding mechanisms to fund the various programs. At the Mar. 1 Policy Meeting, the Board provide preliminary policy direction to staff. The next step in the process is to schedule a Public Hearing to consider adoption of the proposed surtax ordinance and to authorize staff to publish notice of said Public Hearing. Pursuant to s 125.66(2), Florida Statutes, the notice must be published in a newspaper of general circulation in Alachua County at least 10 days before the date of the adoption hearing. If authorized by the BoCC, the attached notice will be published in the Gainesville Sun on or about March 10, 2022, which is at least 10 days prior to the BoCC's March 22, ...
