Background:
Subsurface injection and grouting is a service needed by Public Works in order to conduct underground repairs to sinkholes, roadways, and drainage structures/pipe. This method of repair reduces or eliminates the amount of excavation required and thereby reduces impact to existing facilities. Under this contract repairs can be completed in a timely manner without conducting the procurement process for each instance where work is needed
Certain areas in Alachua County are prone to sinkholes due to the natural geology in this area. Repairs to sinkholes that occur in transportation right-of-way typically require underground polyurethane injection or grouting. County staff does not have the expertise or equipment to complete this work in-house. This agreement will be utilized to contract these services for regular operations and for capital projects. Historically sinkhole repairs were made under change orders or by obtaining quotes; having this agreement in place will enable the County to respond more expeditiously to sinkholes.
BID 20-230 Annual Subsurface Injection and Grout Services advertised on December 4, 2019 and December 11, 2019. The deadline for receipt of Bid 20-230 Annual Subsurface Injection and Grout Services was January 22, 2020; one (1) vendor responded. This First Amendment to the agreement elects the first option to renew the term and updates provisions on minimum wage and E-verify.
