Background:
As part of the County’s adopted Arts Council Strategic Plan, support for the written and spoken arts via a Poet Laureate is a priority for the Arts Council. The County’s first Poet Laureate, E. Stanley Richardson, was selected in 2020. His work is publicly available on the Arts Council web page (<https://alachuacounty.us/arts-council/pages/poet-laureate.aspx>).
Three Poet Laureate submittals were received and ranked. The Arts Council voted to forward all three candidates to the County Commission for final selection.
