Background:

Section 951.26, Florida Statutes requires each county to establish a public safety coordinating council. The Alachua County Public Safety Coordinating Council was created pursuant to the law. The current Council is made up of over 20 members. The number of members has caused some difficulty in obtaining a quorum. In a public meeting on August 24, 2022, the Council approved the proposed Resolution modifying the Council’s membership to mirror that which is listed in Section 951.26, Florida Statutes, with the addition of the Chief of Police for the City of Gainesville.
