Background:
The Board is responsible for filling Advisory Board vacancies as member terms end. Seven out of eight Planning Commission members are Board appointed (one position is filled by the Alachua County School Board). There are two current vacancies that require Board action to fill. These appointments will be for full four-year terms (Through 7/31/2026). The Alachua County Planning Commission (also known as the Local Planning Agency) is responsible for advising the Board of County Commissioners on items related to zoning and land use actions as well as Comprehensive Plan amendments. The PC provides the Board with a determination of consistency with the Plan and Unified Land Development Code and can also provide recommendations regarding these actions.
