Background:

The BoCC approved the use of funds derived from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to support affordable housing strategies.  The purpose of the Trust Fund is to provide a fund to create and sustain affordable housing and address the needs for affordable housing in the County.  The Partners in Housing initiative between Alachua County, Alachua County Housing Authority and Family Promise will assist homeless families with a disabled parent or homeless families with the ability to gain employment and secure affordable housing in Alachua County. The Agreement places responsibilities on the parties related to the Initiative and sets an agreed criteria.  The families who are served will work with a case manager to help achieve self-sufficiency goals.

The BoCC directed staff to work with the Alachua County Housing Authority to develop a program which will help stabilize homeless families who are on the waiting list for HUD subsidized housing.
