Background:
In 2017, the Board named Alachua County as the county’s Local Arts Agency. In 2018, the Arts Council of Alachua County (ACAC) was established. One of their primary responsibilities is the oversight, administration, and promotion of art tag proceeds, which is the funding source for these grants. These grants continue to be included in their Board adopted Strategic Plan.
Last year, $500 Mini Grants and $3,500 Major Grants were provided for Alachua County artists. The Arts Council suggests that the two be consolidated allowing four (4) $1,000 Mini Grants be awarded this cycle. The grant award will be made available to the Artists in advance with reporting and receipts due within 30 days of project completion, or September 30, 2022, whichever occurs first.
Currently, there is $6,000 budgeted for Matching Grants to Small Cities (max $3,000 for each grant award.) The grant award is a 50/50 match and will be made available on a reimbursement basis.
These grants are funded through Art Tag Proceeds, Fund 118 and in accordance with §320.08056 and §320.08058, Florida Statutes.
