Request Approval for the Gainesville Sports Commission to Carry Forward $65,000 in Bid Pool Funds into FY22.

Recommended Action

Approve FY22 carry forward of $65,000 for unspent FY21 bid pool funding for five specific FY22 events, listed in the background below.

The Gainesville Sports Commission Bid Pool is budgeted at $210,000 annually. Requests to carry forward unspent balance are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by the Board.

 

“In the County’s tentative FY22 budget, Tourist Development Tax funding support for the Gainesville Sports Commission is $380,619.00 (Administrative) and $210,000.00 (Bid Pool) for a total of $590,619.00. This carry forward approval will provide a total of   $655,619 in FY22 to the Gainesville Sports Commission. This carry forward balance has no negative effect for other tourism funded grants or operations

Background:

Unspent bid pool funding may be allocated on a case-by-case basis for future year events, with the prior approval of the Board of County Commissioners.

 

Requested carry forward funds are for the following FY22 events:

                     Crappie USA, December 4 -5, 2021 at Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic Park, Orange Lake $6,500;

                     Savage Race, January 22, 2022 at Rembert Farms $14,000;

                     AAU Basketball (4) at Legacy Multipurpose Center $15,000;

                     USA Gymnastics Men's State Championships March 4 - 6, 2022 at Legacy Multipurpose Center $9,500; and

                     USA Artistic Swimming Junior Olympics June 25 - July 2, 2022 at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center $20,000.
