Background:
Florida Statute 420.9076 mandates the establishment of an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) to govern the use of State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds. AHAC consists of eleven positions comprised of the banking industry, providers of affordable housing, home building industry, low-income advocates, Essential Service Personnel, local planning agency, realtor, laborers, and an Alachua County resident.
The primary role of AHAC is to review policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and the Housing Element, detailed in the Comprehensive Plan of Alachua County. AHAC makes recommendations pertaining to specific actions or initiatives that encourage affordable housing.
Currently, AHAC has two (2) vacancies in the following categories:
1. Actively Engaged as a Realtor in Connection with Affordable Housing
2. Represents Laborers Actively Engaged in Residential Affordable Construction.
