Background:

The Recreation and Open Space Advisory Committee (ROSCO) was formed in 1983 and re-established through resolutions in 1986, 1989, 1995, 1999, 2009, 2011 and 2019. ROSCO establishes an annual work program; engages in an annual review of the Capital Improvement Project list pertaining to recreation projects; assists and advises on future policies and directions concerning recreation and open space projects for Alachua County. The committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m.

The bylaws of the City of Gainesville Public Recreation Board state that the Chair “will serve as a voting member of the Alachua County Recreation Committee.” Mr. William Burger currently serves in that capacity.
