Background:
The Storage Area Network (SAN) is the central storage for the vast majority of the computer systems used by BOCC agencies including web services, email system, files, etc. The data redundancy service provided by the SAN is also a key component of the disaster recovery and continuation of operation strategies for Alachua County. This will enable ITS to access to technical support, software upgrades, and immediate hardware replacement in case of disruptive failure.
These servers are scheduled for replacement during the fiscal year 2020-21 as part of the Computer Replacement Program. The upgrade will improve operational efficiency and will enable us access to technical support, software upgrades, immediate hardware replacement in case of disruptive failure.
This is the Netapp Annual Maintenance and Technical Support for the Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment. It is a recurrent expense and it has been approved by the Board every year since approximately 2010.
This purchase is exempt from the County's competitive bidding requirements pursuant to Section 22.3-302 (13) of the Alachua County Procurement Code, Procurement of Supplies or Services under Contract with cooperatives, including cooperatives that the County participates in accordance with Article 10, Section 22.10-201 (Cooperative Purchasing Authorized), providing the vendor extends the same terms and conditions of the Contract to the County; However, since the dollar amount of the purchase exceeds the purchasing authority of the Procurement Manager, this Purchase Order is being submitted for Board consideration and approval.
