There is not fiscal impact to hear presentation but depending on Board direction there could be future fiscal impact to all parts of the Solid Waste System.

Background:
In 2018, Alachua County retained Kessler Consulting, Inc. for professional services to develop a community wide Zero Waste Strategy Report with the City of Gainesville. The project, initiated in 2019, provides direction for devising the means, methods, and infrastructure necessary to sustainably manage materials within both jurisdictions. A Baseline Report was completed on April 2020 and a Draft Preliminary Strategy Report was completed on September 2020.

The Draft Zero Waste Preliminary Strategy Report was presented to the Environmental Protection Advisory Committee (December 1, 2020), the Citizen Climate Advisory Committee (January 14, 2021) and the Rural Concerns Advisory Committee (January 19, 2021).
