Background:

At the Dec. 14 Commission meeting, the Board chose to honor Dr. Patricia Hilliard-Nunn with a Sankofa statue.  The anonymous donor has offered $25,000 toward the sculpture.  The Call to Artists has been reviewed by the Arts Council and Community Remembrance Program Committee.  The current deadline is Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. for artists to apply.  The Arts Council and a representative from the Community Remembrance Program Committee will evaluate the submittals and the top 2-3 will be paid $150 for their sketch of the sculpture, which will be presented to the Board for final selection (likely in late May or early June).
