Description:

Public hearing to set the rates for the Solid Waste Assessments for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 and authorize the Chair to certify the Non Ad Valorem Assessment Roll to the Tax Collector.

Adopt the Solid Waste Final Assessment Resolution for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 and authorize the Chair to certify the Solid Waste Non-Ad Valorem Assessment Roll to the Tax Collector.

Prior Board Motions:

Resolution 2022-68 was approved on July 12, 2022 to set the rates for Solid Waste Non-Ad Valorem Assessments and authorize provision of the notice to affect property owners on the Notice of Proposed Taxes (TRIM)

Fiscal Consideration

Approving the Solid Waste Assessment rates to remain the same as Fiscal Year 2022-2023 will allow the County to collect approximately $11.1 million in non-ad valorem assessments to fund the Universal Curbside Collection, Rural Collection Center and Solid Waste Management Programs. Estimated revenue is $6.6 million to account 148.76.7600.325.20.00, $1.4 million to account 403.76.7610.325.20.00, and $3.1 million to account 405.76.7620.325.20.00.

Background:

The Solid Waste Assessment was adopted by the Board and implemented as a funding source for the collection of the Universal Curbside Collection, Rural Collection Centers and Solid Waste Management programs.

 

A resolution is required to set the Tentative Solid Waste Assessment rates that will be included in the TRIM notices.
