Background:
The County has partnered with the City of Gainesville since 1999 in order to maintain a satellite victim services office at the Gainesville Police Department (GPD), which is managed by the Alachua County Victim Services & Rape Crisis Center (ACVSRCC). The City of Gainesville funding has supported one of the victim advocate counselor positions based at GPD since 2005 with grants sought by the City, or at times with City funds. This year the City will again be funding the position with City funds, Alachua County hires, trains and supervises the position, and the City reimburses the County for the salary and fringe expenses. The City also provides computers, training, use of a City vehicle as needed, and office space and supplies to the County employee.
