Recommended Action:
Recommended Action
Convene as the Land Development Regulation Commission and find the proposed amendments to the Unified Land Development Code consistent with the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan. Reconvene as the Board of County Commissioners and Approve the ordinance updating the Alachua County Housing and Maintenance Code

Background:
The Alachua County previously adopted the 1991 Standard Housing Code, 1991 edition, promulgated by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. to be the standards for minimum housing. The Standard Housing Code is out of date and is no longer the model generally followed. The proposed ordinance updates the minimum housing and maintenance standards for structures and premises by adopting the International Property and Maintenance Code, 2021 edition, (IPMC) in part. Those provisions of the IPMC that are not adopted by the County or are amended are referenced in the ordinance. The ordinance also modifies the definition of dangerous structure to match that which is included in the IPMC.
