DEO Letter to Career Source

Commissioner Cornell stated that the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) letter to CareerSource of North Central Florida raises serious concerns. Mr. Cornell would like to send a Chair letter to the State Agency informing them that the County Commission has just received the concerns and would like the opportunity to address the concerns.

Commissioner Cornell moved that a Chair Letter to Ken Lawson, at Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), statin the following:

1. The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners are just learning about the issues raised in his letter dated September 27, 2019.

2. We share his concerns and strongly agree that the CareerSource North Central Florida should conduct its business in an open and transparent manner and as a faithful steward of taxpayer dollars.

3. We take his concerns very seriously, and now that we are aware of them, we wish to work directly with him to better understand his concerns and resolve them in a cooperative manner.

4. To that end, we would like to coordinate a meeting with him and his staff to discuss ways of improving the lines of communication directly between DEO and the County, and to identify and implement any changes that need to be made to not only resolve his concerns now, but to ensure ...
