Background:

Since 1999, Alachua County Fire Rescue has been the custodial agency for the tower/trailer and radio equipment used for emergency and non-emergency use in the State of Florida.  The State Homeland Security Grant Program sub-grant agreements provide for the replacement of equipment.  In exchange, Alachua County agrees to be ready and respond to activation orders for deployment by the State Emergency Operations Center.

The purchase of replacement radio equipment is fully funded by the grant.  No match is required.

This purchase is exempt from the County's competitive bidding requirements pursuant to Section 22.3-302 (28) Sole Source procurements in accordance with the Procurement Procedures Manual. However, since the dollar amount of the purchase exceeds the purchasing authority of the Procurement Manager, this Purchase Order is being submitted for Board consideration and approval.
