Background:
On May 22, 2020, the Governor issued Executive Order 20-131, attached, lifting any state restrictions on youth sports teams and leagues, youth clubs and programs, child care, and summer camps and youth recreation camps, effective immediately. According to the Governor's press conference, the Governor intended that there be no state restrictions on these operations but encouraged local governments to determine necessary standards.
The Governor has left it to local governments to determine what, if any, COVID-19 standards to apply to youth sports teams and leagues, youth clubs and programs, child care, and summer camps and youth recreation camps. The County has spoken to child care in its past orders, applying CDC/OSHA standards and requiring face masks for workers.
There are some existing standards and guidance from the federal government, other states and industry groups for operating youth sport and summer camps, and COIVID-19.
