Background:
At the April 16 Friends of Cuscowilla meeting, the Friends voted unanimously to request the County Commission keep Cuscowilla as the sole naming convention for the property. There had been discussion about additions to the name such as “Outdoor Education Center,” “Resource Center” and the like, but the Friends recommend it remain simply “Cuscowilla.”
Staff is concerned that out-of-town visitors will not know what Cuscowilla is, unless its name is descriptive, thereby negatively impacting corporate and group rentals. Jessica Hurov, Tourism Manager, provided the following for consideration:
